New York. Viking Press. 1944. First Edition. Hardcover in cloth boards. Very good in very good dust jacket. Slight spine lean with light soil to edges. Gift inscription dated 1945. Text clean in tight binding. Jacket rubbed & edge worn. No large tears or chips. The collected letters from his childhood through 1943 form an informal Woollcott autobiography. Includes letters to Dorothy Parker, Noel Coward, Janet Flanner, Frank Lloyd Wright, Thornton Wilder & Jerome Kern.

Text clean. Six Roughead mystery stories. The book was one of the first titles published by George Macy's Reader's Club. Sinclair Lewis, Clifton Fadiman, Carl Van Doren, and Alexander Woollcott constituted the board of judges with Woollcott as Executive Chairperson.
