This is the preliminary article published before the 1904 Univ. of California publication. Sinclair published this account while a student of John C. Merriam at U.C. Berkeley. After receiving his M.S. & Ph.D. in 1904 he became a fellow at Princeton and later headed their vertebrate paleontology field/collecting program in Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska.
